Hope of Martin grant approved

MARTIN — Martin Mayor Randy Brundige and the Board of Aldermen voted Monday in favor of a $1,500 grant to Hope of Martin, a community organization that plans to ultimately build five duplexes on the property formerly known as Campbell Trailer Park on Highland Street.

Taylor hires a lawyer, weighs his options in campus robbery case

DRESDEN — The alleged ringleader of a November armed robbery and kidnapping on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus was back in court Thursday.
Richard Taylor, through a public defender, said he recently hired a Nashville attorney who needs more time to prepare and was unable to attend the hearing because of a scheduling conflict.
The case was continued until May 30.

Skyhawks add transfer to list of soccer signees

Michelle Calmeyn, a 5-10 forward out of Elk Grove Village, Ill., has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the UT Martin soccer program, head coach Phil McNamara has announced.
Calmeyn will have two years of eligibility remaining at UT Martin after transferring in from USC Upstate, a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference in Spartanburg, SC.

UTM shows off new golf venue

Several friends and alumni of the UT Martin golf program gathered recently for a fundraiser dinner at the new Rhodes Golf Center.
Around 100 people took in the sights of the new Rhodes Golf Center and enjoyed fellowship with the Skyhawk golf team, coaching staff and athletic director Phil Dane.
