A Crusader's View – 9.07.10 “Transportation turmoil!?”
Hello once again! This week’s subject is an odd one to say the least. The Press sometimes gets editorial submissions that it cannot publish, because of printing space or time restrictions. This one is of no exception.
Dr. Tracy C. Miller of the center of Visions and Values at Grove City suggested to The Press in a column, that we need “transportation taxes” used specifically for road repairs and maintenance. Read More ... Jeremy Thayer, Guest Columnist |

Martha’s big adventure: The big C squared By MARTHA R. CARR
Cancer is a very annoying disease especially when repeated. I recently had more skin removed after a suspicion of approaching melanoma on my face and basal cell on my right arm. That’s a third and fourth time for anyone who’s keeping score. Stitches start to come out in another day.

Words from the founding fathers – 9.02.10 The last line of The Declaration of Independence boldly states the resolve the 56 signers had in forming this new republic - “We mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor.”
Thanks to the encouragement and support of my wife, I was blessed and privileged to attend the Restoring Honor Rally in Washington last Saturday. Here we were all challenged and encouraged to be personally responsible in making the same pledge to ourselves and each other. If we are to see our country come back to a place that many of us recall as a distant memory, we must all take this pledge. Read More ... Nathan Castleman, Guest Columnist |
Happy Labor Day By MARTHA R. CARR
It’s the end of summer and time once again to celebrate the American workforce. The timing seems especially appropriate with the sluggish recovery on everyone’s minds as we enter the third quarter, which is often the most perilous. The steepest downturns often occur in this part of the year.

Chair of TFT says state has highest taxes The Tax Foundation is correct in pointing out that Tennessee has the highest combined state and average local sales tax rate in the country.
This means that lower income families pay a far higher percentage of their income to the state than do higher income families—about 12 percent for lower income families compared to about 3 percent for higher income families. This is grossly unfair and destructive to most Tennessee families. Read More ... John G. Stewart, TFT Chairman |
