Mason Storey of Troy was recently awarded the Emerging Leader Award during the Greek Awards for 2008 at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes students who have already begun to excel and become true leaders on campus, in their fraternity or sorority and in the community.

Jenny Cooper, a senior music education major from Camden, will perform her senior euphonium recital at 7:30 p.m. April 28 in the Harriet Fulton Theatre of the Fine Arts Building at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
The recital is free and open to the public.
The performance will feature works by Barat, de Luca, Haddad and de La Nux. Ms. Cooper will be assisted by Bradley G. Coker, instructor of music; Dr. Jeremy Kolwinska, Department of Music chairman; Jonathan Byrd, student, of Union City; and Delana Easley, music specialist, of Union City.

The University of Tennessee at Martin University Trio — consisting of flutist Dr. Elaine Harriss, clarinetist Dr. Amy Simmons and pianist Delana Easley — will present a program of chamber music at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Harriet Fulton Theatre in the Fine Arts Building on the campus.
Dr. Harriss, professor of music, received her doctorate from the University of Michigan and served as principal flutist in the Jackson and Paducah Symphony orchestras for a total of 25 years.
Dr. Simmons, assistant professor of music, received her doctorate from Arizona State University, has given solo and chamber recitals throughout the Europe, as well as the U.S., and has released a solo CD featuring the music of Russell Riepe.
Mrs. Easley, UT Martin staff accompanist, is active as a soloist and collaborative pianist in the area.

Dr. G.K. Sharma, University of Tennessee at Martin professor of biology, recently was named the featured scholar for the spring semester.
Each semester, the university recognizes outstanding faculty for excellence in teaching and scholarship.
Sharma joined the UT Martin faculty in 1968 and was named a Harvard University postdoctoral research fellow in 1976-77. He was named a University of Tennessee Alumni Association Alumni Distinguished Service Professor and is a recipient of the Excellence in Education Award, Featured Scholar Award, International Scholar Award and the UT Alumni Outstanding Teacher Award.
A sample of Sharma’s publications and accomplishments is on display in the Paul Meek Library on the UT Martin campus.
