Lady Dawgs squeak past Dresden
Lady Dawgs squeak past Dresden | Dresden High School, Gleason High School, Lady Lions, Lady Bulldogs, Dresden, Gleason, Tennessee

Race to the plate — Dresden's Jessica Parsley sprints down toward home plate while Lady Bulldog third baseman Mallorie James prepares to make a throw. Parsley slid in safely, but James took solace in her team's 5-4 win.
The Gleason Lady Bulldogs made it a season sweep over rival Dresden's Lady Lions with a close 5-4 win Tuesday at Wilson Park.
It was Dresden gaining the early advantage though. A walk to Erica Glisson turned into an unearned run thanks to two errors in the field.
Gleason rebounded to take the lead with two runs in the third inning. Amy Spain drew a leadoff walk and Katlin Gaylord followed with a single. Spain crossed home on a fielder's choice and Goodlow scored on an infield groundout to push Gleason ahead, 2-1.
The Lady Lions forged a tie in the home half of the third. Glisson again drew a walk, this time scoring on Breanna Arnold's single for a 2-all score.
Gleason (8-5, 4-1) plated two runs without a hit in the fourth. A dropped third strike put Lacie Trevathan on. Spain bunted her way on base. Trevathan scored on a wild pitch and Spain eventually reached home on a throw to first after a dropped third strike for a 4-2 lead.
DHS cut its deficit in half with a run in the fifth. Jessica Parsley singled up the middle and scored on Arnold's fielder's choice. The Lady Lions left the bases loaded in the fifth, trailing 4-3.
Gleason added an insurance run in the sixth. Breeanna Wallace singled and scored on Spain's RBI groundout for a 5-3 GHS advantage.
The game didn't end without a Dresden rally try though. In the Lady Lions' final at-bat, Gleason helped the DHS cause with an error to put leadoff batter Hannah Wade on base. Marlee Mason made things interesting with an RBI double smashed to the fence in left. Mason, the potential tying run, stole third base. Mason was tagged out at home for the second out of the inning when Gleason third baseman Mallorie James fielded a slow roller and threw to catcher Taylor Stout.
Gleason starter Riley Auven-shine next fielded a grounder and threw to first base for the game's final out to preserve the Lady Bulldogs' 5-4 victory over Dresden.
