Lady Jackets sweep through Dyer County
It was another dominating performance by the Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets tennis team.
The Lady Jackets crushed the host Dyer County Lady Choctaws, 7-0, on Tuesday in Dyer. It was Greenfield's second win of the season over DC. The win improved the record of the Orange and Black to 8-1.
The winning started with Katie McCall at No. 1 singles. McCall, a sophomore, blanked her opponent Maddie Surrett, 8-0.
Mallory Robinson, playing at No. 2 singles, had little trouble providing a win to the GHS total. Robinson stopped Mallory Brimm, 8-1.
The closest call of the day for Greenfield came at No. 3 singles. Lady Jacket Melissa McCartney finally put away Amanda Wright, winning 8-6.
Summer Hoke had an easy time in her No. 4 singles match. She topped Brianna Klutts, 8-1.
Greenfield picked up a default win at No. 5 singles since Dyer County presented no opponent for Natalie Medling to play.
In doubles action, Greenfield's top duo of McCall and Robinson cruised past the No. 1 team from Dyer County, Surrett and Wright, winning 8-1.
The 8-1 tally was also the final score in No. 2 doubles. Lady Jackets Taren Hatcher and Hannah Rawls tripped the team of Stewart and Long.
Greenfield's regular season schedule is winding down with the District 14 A-AA Tournament looming on the horizon.
The Lady Jackets, after a match with Peabody in Trenton on Wednesday, will take on Gibson County on Friday. On Monday, Greenfield will participate in a three-way match with Peabody and Westview in Martin.
