ECCE offers Excel for use in classroom

The Messenger 04.25.08

The University of Tennessee at Martin Office of Extended Campus and Continuing Education and online course provider Ed2Go have partnered to offer “Microsoft Excel 2007 in the Classroom.”
The course — taught by Robin Sellers, a 10-year teaching veteran known for bringing technology to the classroom — has tips, shortcuts and lesson plan ideas for incorporating Excel across the curriculum in all grade levels.
Teachers will learn all the important Excel basics and some of the more advanced functions. As they’re doing that, they will also explore standards-based activities that make it easy to pass their Excel knowledge on to their students.
Students can interact with the instructor and fellow students in Web-based discussion areas where they can ask course-related questions. A response is usually promised within one business day and often arrives much sooner. Students can take “Microsoft Excel 2007 in the Classroom” from the convenience of home or office and at any time of the day or night.
“Microsoft Excel in the Classroom” meets the qualifications for professional development activities that can be used for renewal purposes.
Prior to enrolling, those interested should check with a supervisor to ensure the course can be used as a part of a professional growth plan. If approved, participants will receive 24 renewal points. UT Martin will provide a Certificate of Completion showing the name of the course, course dates and the number of continuing education credits awarded.
The registration fee is $95 and new sessions begin May 21 and June 18.
For more information about this course, contact the UT Martin Online Instruction Center at www.utm.edu/ecce/onlinecourses.php and select Education To Go.
