The Messenger 04.28.08

The Regional Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center is offering small business workshops for tax issues and selling to the government.
“Tax Issues and Your Small Business” will be taught from 1-5 p.m. May 15 at the REED Center, located at 406 Lindell St. in Martin, at no cost, except $10 for continuing education credits.
Eddie Ramsey will instruct the course.
Participants will learn about forms, filing regulations and record-keeping requirements for small businesses. Participants will also explore the pitfalls and tips of filing small-business tax returns.
“Need More Customers? How About Selling to the Government ...” will be offered from 10 a.m.-noon June 5 at the REED Center.
Russell Toone, University of Tennessee Procurement Technical Assistance Center counselor, will instruct the course.
In this workshop, experts will provide participants with the fundamentals for government contracting for small business. Participants will learn the skills needed to compete for government contracts, explore small-business and minority selection standards and move a small business into competition for government contracts.
