WHS ends regular season with wins
WHS ends regular season with wins | Westview High School, Westview soccer, Martin, Tennessee

Heavy traffic — Westview's Jake Hart (center) tries to weave his way through a host of Milan Bulldogs during the Chargers' 2-1 win on Monday. Westview finished the regular season in second place in the district thanks to a 6-1 win over host Peabody on T
The Westview Chargers soccer team wrapped up the regular season with consecutive wins and, with those victories, earned a homefield advantage in their first upcoming District 14 A-AA tournament game.
WHS edged Milan's Bulldogs, 2-1, on Monday, then trounced the Peabody Tide, 6-1, Tuesday.
The wins guaranteed the Chargers a second-place finish in the district and with that slot a chance to host their first district tournament game.
Against Milan, it took 27 minutes before the scoreless deadlock was broken. Derek Ahn fed a beautiful crossing pass to a wide open Zach Ward who sent a laser past the Bulldog keeper.
Nine minutes later, Westview doubled its lead to 2-0. Zach Fortner sent in a corner kick. The Milan keeper deflected the pass, but didn't control it. Senior Harrison Moore got a foot on the rebound and fired a low shot into the right corner.
A tackle in the box three minutes later gave Milan a penalty kick. Milan slipped the PK past Westview keeper Chase Manley for a 2-1 halftime score.
Westview kept the pressure on Milan in the second half and earned the 2-1 win.
"We executed throughout. We did a good job of possessing the ball most of the game," Westview head coach Dan Scates said.
Against Peabody, Ahn and Jeremy Haywood notched two goals each. Fortner and Will Sliger each scored one goal. Noah Towe was the lone Charger credited with an assist. Manley made three saves in the win.
Westview ends the regular season with a record of 5-4-4 overall and 3-1-1 in the district.
