MIGHTY MATHEMATICIANS — Union City Middle School recently participated in the 2008 Middle School/Junior High School Mathematics contest, held on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus and sponsored by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Contestants from Union City Middle School who placed in the contest included (from left, front row) John Kirkland, who placed third overall in eighth grade out of 128 contestants; Jason Stone, who placed fourth overall in sixth grade out of 129 contestants; Woodson Miles, who placed third overall in seventh grade; and Luke Searcy, who placed fourth overall in seventh grade out of 111 contestants. Other UCMS students who participated in the contest were (from left, middle row) Caleb Long, Alex Darnall, Madison Turner, Morgan Stone, Benjamin White, Ashlyn Chism, Kaitlyn Wheeles, Travis Rutland, Drake Parker, (back row) Brittany Parker, Lanzer Harris, Justice Walker, Angel Huang, Jonathan Hurtado and Jacob Triplett.
