Benjamin Easley, a senior at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, has been named to the undergraduate honor roll for the spring semester.
To be listed on the SMU honor roll with high distinction, students must be in the top 5 percent of their school of record.
Easley maintains a 4.0 grade point average at SMU, where he is double majoring in music and political science.
He is the son of John and Delana Easley of Union City.

Five students from Obion County achieved Dean’s List status for the spring semester at Murray (Ky.) State University.
The honorees include Jennifer Davis, Kimberly Hill, Seth Owen (perfect 4.0 scholastic average), Sara Roach (perfect 4.0 scholastic average) and Versie Sellers (perfect 4.0 scholastic average).
According to records submitted by the registrar’s office, a total of 1,672 undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students at Murray State have earned recognition for their scholastic achievement and been named to the Dean’s List. Students must achieve a grade point average ranging from 3.5 to a perfect 4.0 to be eligible for Dean’s List status.

Hailey Nicole Burton, 23-year-old daughter of Barry and Betty (Elam) Burton of Memphis, formerly of Union City, recently graduated summa cum laude from the University of Memphis.
She is the granddaughter of James E. Elam and the late Jane Elam of Union City and James K. Burton and the late Eva Burton of Memphis.
Ms. Burton has been accepted to the University of Memphis School of Law, where she will begin her studies in the fall.
