Bridal parties held
Several prenuptials were held recently honoring Emmylou Freeman Covington of the Fremont community, bride-elect of William Stewart Denman Jr. of Hornbeak.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Jana Covington of the Fremont community and the late Paul Wayne Covington. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Jean Freeman of the Fremont Community and the late Paul and Louise Carter Covington.
The groom-elect is the son of Bill and Judy Denman and the grandson of Doris Long and the late Eugene Long, all of Hornbeak.
The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at Bishop Street church of Christ in Union City. Music will begin at 6:45.
FAMILY SHOWER
An outdoor family shower was held recently at the home of Brooks and Paula Duncan of Union City. Co-hosting the event were Brad and Adelia Burkett of Troy, Homer and Julia Lawson and Julianne, Victor and Laura Castro and girls, Johnny and Joyce Freeman, Jeff and Cindy Harris and JohnAnne, Gerald and Lori Cox and Jackson, all of Union City, and David and Christy Mosley and boys of Franklin in absentia.
Barbecue, with all the trimmings, along with a variety of pies, were displayed in buffet style.
Candlelit tables surrounded the landscaped pool area.
The bride-elect chose khaki pants with a burnt orange shirt and brown jacket for this event. These colors represent the color scheme of their upcoming wedding.
Miss Covington was presented a corsage of deep yellow roses with burnt orange tips to accent her attire.
Attending, in addition to the hosts and hostesses, were the the bride-elect’s mother and grandparents; the groom-elect’s parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Johnathan Denman of Hornbeak.
The couple was presented a charcoal grill for their new home.
TEA
A tea was held in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Macy Roberson of Tiptonville.
Co-hosting the event were Joyce Barnes and Kristen Barnes, both of Ridgely, and Mildred Bobo and Debbie Beasley, both of Tiptonville.
The honoree chose a brown wrap-dress trimmed in ivory for her attire. She was presented with a corsage of ivory carnations to enhance her array, by the hostesses.
Finger sandwiches, quiche, numerous flavors of homemade fudge and burnt orange punch were served.
Special guests attending were the bridal couple’s mothers and grandmothers; and Mrs. Jerry Dan Darnall of Hornbeak, aunt of the groom-elect. Brenda Moss of Covington, cousin of the bride-elect, also attended and presented the honoree with monogrammed goblets to be used at the wedding reception.
PANTRY SHOWER
The ladies of Mt. Zion church of Christ hosted a pantry shower for the couple.
Miss Covington chose a printed flared skirt in browns and tans with a matching brown blouse.
The hostesses presented her with a corsage of burnt orange roses combined with purple and yellow accents.
The tables were covered with brown and tan print tablecloths.
A pumpkin filled with live flowers and greenery was placed in the center of the hors d’oeuvre table. A Longaberger basket was cleverly designed to be used as the punch bowl. Ham on rolls, sausage balls, a cheese ball, dill pickle delights, nuts, mints and chocolate cake were served.
Special guests attending were the bridal couple’s mothers and grandmothers and Mrs. Darnall.
The hostesses presented the honoree with many bags and household containers full of canned goods and cleaning supplies.
MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER
A miscellaneous shower was given for the couple by the members of Fremont Church of Christ. The couple enjoyed a fun-filled night of food, friends and many wonderful gifts. Corsages of orange and harvest gold flowers with golden bows, were given to the honoree and the bridal couple’s mothers and grandmothers.
An orange and yellow color theme was used throughout the event in plates, napkins and in a beautiful basket centerpiece of fall foliage.
Barbecue chicken wings, chicken salad sandwiches, veggie tray with dip, chips, cookies, drinks and a delicious punch were served buffet-style. A large sheet cake, half-chocolate and half-white, with “Congratulations to the Bride and Groom” written in yellow, was served.
Special guests were the bridal couple’s parents and grandparents; Becky Barnes and Jared Barnes, friends of the couple, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wells, cousin of the bride-elect, all of Union City, Mrs. Mark Hardin, aunt of the bride-elect, of Newbern and Vicki Wade, cousin of the bride-elect, of Martin.
