Bridal parties held
Bridal parties were held recently for Emmylou Freeman Covington of the Fremont community and William Stewart Denman Jr. of Hornbeak.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Jana Covington of Fremont and the late Paul Wayne Covington. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Jean Freeman of Fremont and the late Paul and Louise (Carter) Covington.
The groom-elect is the son of Bill and Judy Denman and the grandson of Doris Long and the late Eugene Long, all of Hornbeak.
MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER
Members of Lakeview Church of Christ recently honored the bridal couple with a miscellaneous shower.
Various household items and gift cards were presented to Miss Covington and Denman.
The members prepared a variety of finger foods, including pumpkin dip, chicken salad, ham on rolls, “pigs in a blanket,” chess squares and several other delicious treats. Guests were also offered a choice of soft drinks.
“Congratulations to the honorees” was written on a sheet cake decorated with fall leaves and pumpkins to set the autumn theme.
Members of the church expressed their wishes to the couple for a long and happy life together.
Attending with the honorees were the mother and grandparents of the bride-elect and the parents of the groom-elect.

BRIDAL SHOWER
A bridal shower was given for the bride-elect at her new home on Raspberry Road in Troy.
A memorable night of food, good fun and reminiscing were the highlights of this social event.
The guest list consisted of college, high school and long-time friends.
Hosting this event were Ann Oliver, Sara Oliver, Kadi Oliver, Lynn Adams and Rachel Grow, all of Union City.
The hostesses prepared a variety of festive treats including ham rolls, cheese ball, a fruit and veggie tray, dips, chips and a delicious “devil dog” cake. Soft drinks were also available to the guests.
The food was arranged on tables covered with red tablecloths and was presented in red and black dishes, in complement to Miss Covington’s kitchen color scheme. The hostesses then presented the serving dishes as a gift to the honoree.
Upon their arrival, Miss Covington, her mother and the groom-elect’s mother received corsages of red, black and white. The bride-elect also received many household items the couple had previously selected.
The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. Oct. 12 at Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City. Music will begin at 6:45.
