A Greenfield man faces a charge of child rape after an investigation by two local agencies revealed he allegedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl from Weakley County.
Junior Thomas Jenkins, 43, was arrested at his home on Kimery Levee Road Monday, Sept. 1, according to a press release issued by the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department.
An affidavit cites Jenkins allegedly had sex with the 10 year old at a clay pit on Liberty Road on Sunday.
The child was able to lead investigators to the scene where they apparently found physical evidence linking Jenkins to the crime. Investigators with the WCSD as well as the Greenfield Police Department also found evidence from a cell phone owned by Jenkins, according to the press release.
The child and Jenkins knew one another and were seen together in a vehicle at a convenience store in Greenfield prior to the incident that day.
Jenkins faces a Class A felony charge of rape of a child, which carries a minimum conviction sentence of 25 years in prison.
