Accused husband faces felony charges
A 25-year-old Dresden man has been arrested on charges of beating his pregnant ex-wife. Jared W. Hinman was charged with aggravated assault, viable fetus as a victim and four counts of violating an order of protection. According to the affidavit of complaint, Dresden Police Department’s Pt. Michael Gertsh and Ptl. Danny Taylor were dispatched to Mindy Hinman’s home to investigate a domestic assault when they observed “red marks, bruising and swelling of the victim’s neck, stomach, ribs, right leg, face and forehead.” The officers also reported that Mrs. Hinman was “very distraught and emotional.” Jared Hinman had already allegedly fled the scene before officers arrived. The victim told EMS personnel that she had been struck repeatedly in the stomach and head, and that she was eight weeks pregnant. She was taken to the emergency room for medical treatment. Officers located the suspect on Pikeview Street in Dresden and transported him to the Weakley County Detention Center for processing where it was determined that the victim and her three children had active order of protections in place. During his Monday arraignment in Weakley County General Sessions Court, Judge Tommy Moore held Jared Hinman without bond until his preliminary hearing. WCP 10.09.08
