Paris-Inman maintains upper hand against gridiron Panthers
Paris-Inman maintains upper hand against gridiron Panthers | Martin Middle School football, Antonio Hogard, Martin, Tennessee

Panther on the prowl — Martin Middle School's Antonio Hogard scampers for extra yardage in the Panthers' loss to Paris-Inman on Thursday night. Hogard scored one touchdown in the 38-16 road loss.
Over the past few seasons, the Paris-Inman Bulldogs have been the only team to put a blemish on the Martin Middle School football record and this season revenge was elusive again as Inman defeated the Panthers 38-16 Oct. 9 in Paris.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a 22-0 lead early in the second quarter thanks to two short runs by the quarterback and an intercepted pass returned 40 yards.
After the third score, Martin started offense on its own 36-yard line and picked up 11 yards on first down from Antonio Hogard. R.J. Scott ran 4 yards up the middle and the Bulldogs jumped offsides to give the visitors 5 more yards. On second-and-one, Hogard was wrapped up in the backfield for a 1-yard loss, but gained 10 yards and a first down on his next carry. Scott was stuffed on his next run attempt, but Hogard picked up 12 yards on a run from the quarterback position. He gained 10 more yards on the next two carries and ran in the 13-yard touchdown on a draw play. Mason Capps completed the conversion and with 2:01 left before the half, Martin put its first score on the board and trailed 22-8.
In the third quarter, Inman picked up another score on a 23-yard run. A Capps pass was intercepted at the Bulldog 1-yard line, but the Panthers tackled the runner in the end zone leading to a safety and a 30-10 score with 2:34 left in the third frame.
In the fourth quarter, Hogard’s pass was intercepted resulting in a clock-eating drive and another touchdown for Inman to put the home team up 38-10 with 1:40 left in the contest.
It was all Scott on Martin's final scoring drive as he recorded a 38-yard run before carrying the ball into the end zone for the 12-yard TD. Andrew Langley completed the conversion and made the final score 38-16 in favor of the host Bulldogs.
