Search continues for 2 escapees; police seek info

Two men who escaped from the Fulton County Detention Center in Hickman, Ky., Sunday evening were reportedly still in the area on Monday. Kentucky State Police said Kentucky State Police Post 1 received information the two state inmates were still in the Fulton County (Ky.) area. Troopers responded to and searched two residences Monday, but were unable to locate the suspects. The two suspects are Tommy Lee Southard, 28, of Elizabethtown, Ky., and Jeremy Phelps, 23, of Lebanon Junction, Ky. Southard was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and shorts. He is about 5-feet 6-inches tall and 160 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was originally charged and incarcerated on a First Degree Wanton Endangerment charge (a class D felony) out of Hardin County, Ky. Phelps was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans. He is approximately 6-feet tall and 170 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was originally charged and incarcerated on Flagrant Nonsupport and Escape Second Degree charges (both class D felonies) out of Hardin County. Kentucky State Police was assisted in searching the area Sunday by the Fulton County Sheriff’s office, Hickman County Sheriff’s office, Hickman City Police Department, Fulton City Police Department and Fulton County Detention Center staff. Kentucky State Police asks anyone with any information on the whereabouts of these two individuals to call (270) 856-3721 or 1-800-222-5555.
