Martin Police Dept Investigates Robberies
An alleged robbery has led to the arrest of three people by the Martin Police Department.
According to a press release issued by the department, three people have been charged with aggravated robbery for an incident that occurred July 31.
The initial call came to the department from an area hospital that cited a 30-year-old Martin victim was being treated after he was allegedly assaulted.
A police investigation led to the questioning of Montrell Grant, 18, of Dyersburg; Ryan McCrady, 18, of Jackson and a 17-year-old juvenile from Dyersburg.
The three suspects were located in Dyersburg by MPD Invs. Tommy Erwin and Robbie Hatler, along with Dyersburg Police investigators.
During the investigation, officers discovered the three individuals as well as others planned to rob the victim by luring him to an apartment on K Street, according to the release.
The victim was reportedly jumped, pistol-whipped and robbed of his money and other possessions. The incident is still under investigation and officers anticipate more arrests. The MPD is requesting information concerning an unsolved reported robbery at Save-A-Lot Friday night.
According to a press release, an employee and store manager were closing Friday evening when they were confronted in the parking lot by a person described as a black male wearing a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt with a partial white rag covering his face.
He was further described as being approximately 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 2 inches in height with a slender build.
The release states the subject reportedly pulled a handgun, forced the employees to lay flat on the ground and took a moneybag the manager was holding with an undetermined amount of money in it.
The release went on to say the subject fled on foot to the wooded area behind the store.
No subject was located matching that description after a search was conducted.
The incident remains under investigation by MPD’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call 587-5355.
