McMinn Co. woman, 2 Ky. truckers killed ATHENS (AP) — Three people were killed in traffic accidents on Interstate 75. Two were killed in a fiery crash near mile-marker 52, and another was killed in a crash near mile-marker 49. Both occurred on the northbound side. The first crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday when a 2006 Freightliner driven by Mark Swim, 37, of Georgetown, Ky., failed to stop for traffic, according to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports. He slammed into the back of another big rig which was stopped because of a previous accident on the interstate. Both Swim and his passenger, Roger Thacker, 54, also of Georgetown, Ky., died. Backed-up traffic from the wreck is believed to be the cause of the second accident, which occurred around 7 p.m. and killed Kathryn White, 58, of Athens. Authorities say White was unable to top for traffic and collided with a semi-truck and another car. ——— Information from: The Daily Post-Athenian, http://dpa.xtn.net Autopsy shows ward of state had head injury CHATTANOOGA (AP) — An autopsy shows a ward of the state suffered blunt force trauma to the head at a Chattanooga nursing home.
