The University of Tennessee at Martin’s Office of Extended Campus and Continuing Education (ECCE) will introduce a new online course, “Teaching Writing: Grades 4-6.”
This new program is a teacher-training course designed to help teachers become more effective assisting students in developing writing skills.
Participants will explore the benefits of writing across the curriculum, examine ways to organize writing instruction and uncover the secrets of effective assessment. “Teaching Writing: Grades 4-6” meets the qualifications for professional development activities that can be used for renewal purposes.
The course is part of UT Martin’s growing catalog of more than 300 instructor-facilitated online courses.
New sessions of each course begin every month. They last six weeks, with two new lessons being released weekly (for a total of 12). The courses are entirely Web-based with comprehensive lessons, quizzes and assignments. A professional instructor facilitates every course, pacing learners, answering questions, giving feedback and facilitating discussions.
