The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Candace Brooke Adkins and Christopher Michael Akin, both of Union City, is being announced today.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Adkins of Union City. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Emrich of Union City.
She is a 2001 graduate of Union City High School and a 2003 graduate of the nursing program at Tennessee Technology Center in Newbern.
She is employed as a nurse at Tyson Foods in Union City.
The groom-elect is the son of Jeannie Davis of Austin, Ark., and Mike Akin of Helena, Ark. His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Bill Akers of Helena and the late Jack and Monrose Akin of Somerville.
He is a 1996 graduate of DeSoto High School in Arkansas. He graduated in 2002 from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. While at Arkansas, he was a member of the Arkansas Razorback football team from 1998-2000.
He is employed as a general production manager at Tyson Foods.
The couple will exchange vows at 5 p.m. Nov. 10 at Second Baptist Church in Union City. Music will begin at 4:30.
A reception will be held immediately following the ceremony in the church fellowship hall.
All friends and family are invited to attend.
