Percussion, steel bands to perform at UT Martin

The University of Tennessee at Martin percussion ensemble, the steel band and the Jamaica Me Happy steel band will perform at 3 p.m. Nov. 23 at Harriet Fulton Theatre in the Fine Arts Building on the UT Martin campus.
The concert includes a piece titled “Sprint,” which moves through a musical depiction of a day in the life of a long-distance runner. Other pieces are taken from a recent concert tour in Mexico and include a snare drum ensemble feature. In addition, the Jamaica Me Happy Steel Band will have a new CD available.
Performers will include Scottie Somerville of Kenton, Mark Fairless of Trenton, Daniel Vargason of Selmer, Cory Bozard of Bells, Jacob Abbott of Rutherford, Jeff Moore of Dyersburg, Sean Johnson of Charleston, W.Va., Andrew Lynn of Gibson, Stephen Hughes of Brighton, Colby Snider of Memphis, Hamilton Moore of Cordova, Keegan Paluso of Munford, Merlyn Bruce of Nashville, Davin Smith and Joshua Porche, both of Erin, and Daniel Houston of Jackson.
