| Bridal shower held in honor of Miss Covington |

A bridal party was held recently for Emmylou Freeman Covington of the Fremont community and William Stewart Denman Jr. of Hornbeak.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Jana Covington of Fremont and the late Paul Wayne Covington. She is the granddaughter of Jack and Jean Freeman of Fremont and the late Paul and Louise (Carter) Covington.
The groom-elect is the son of Bill and Judy Denman and the grandson of Doris Long and the late Eugene Long, all of Hornbeak.
The couple will exchange vows at 7 p.m. Friday at Bishop Street Church of Christ in Union City. Music will begin at 6:45.
BRIDAL SHOWER
A shower was held at the Mount Olive Baptist Church activity building in the Crystal community. The event was hosted by Charlotte Gurley, aunt of the bride-elect, and Donna Beard, cousin of the bride-elect, both of Union City, and Brenda Moss, Charley Morgan and Allie Moss, all of Covington.
The bride-elect was given a wrist corsage of autumn flowers tied with a burnt orange and brown ribbon.
Many community friends and family united to wish the bridal couple a long and happy life.
The tables were covered with autumn design tablecloths with matching napkins. Grapevine pumpkins were placed on the tables to accent the room. A centerpiece decorated in fall attire completed the autumn theme and was later given to the honoree.
Finger sandwiches, peanut crispies, quiche, veggies, dip and a delicious orange sherbet punch were served.
Also attending were the bride-elect’s mother and grandparents; the groom-elect’s mother and grandmother; and Beth Hardin of Newbern, aunt of the bride.
Miss Covington was surprised with a Dutch girl handmade quilt given by Doris Long, grandmother of the groom-elect, and a matted and framed doily inscribing the couple’s last name given by the hostesses.
