OBION HARVEST FEST — Alan Jordan and Obion Mayor Patsy Barker look over a list of activities planned for Saturday’s Harvest Fest. Sponsored by the Obion Industrial Board, of which Jordan is a member, the event has been in the planning stage several weeks. “We used to call it the Obion Fall Fest to coincide with the annual Obion County Fall Fest. But this year they called theirs ‘CornFest’ and we’re calling ours ‘Harvest Fest.’” Jordan said the town is looking forward to a large crowd. “We invite everyone to come and enjoy all the activities,” he said. “We hope we’ll have good weather just like it was today. It’ll be ideal.” Mrs. Barker said the town extends its thanks to the Industrial Board and several volunteers who helped plan Harvest Fest. “Events such as this help bring the town together. It’s also an occasion for homecoming and visiting family and friends,” she said. Scheduled events include: 5 p.m., hay ride; 6-7 p.m. gospel singing; and 7 p.m., performance by Renegade band. There will be three drawings, each for $50, at 7, 8 and 9 p.m. and a grand prize drawing for $100 at 10 p.m.
