Will Townes, a freshman engineering major from Union City, is featured on the University of Tennessee at Martin’s home page. The site is www.utm.edu. — — — Two Obion County students have been awarded scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year to attend the University of Tennessee at Martin. They include: • Kara Cox, daughter of Bill and Barbara Cox of Troy, who will be a freshman. She received the Dean’s Scholarship. • Amanda Wall, daughter of Joe and Gina Wall of South Fulton, who will be a freshman. She received the Chancellor’s Award and the Leaders-in-Residence Award. — — — Five students from Obion County have been honored at Lipscomb University in Nashville for academic achievement during the fall semester. The honorees include: • Blake Smith of Troy, an Obion County Central High School graduate majoring in biology, who was named to the Provost’s List; • Derek Lewis of Union City, an OCCHS graduate majoring in exercise science, who was named to the honor roll; • Clay Smith of Troy, an OCCHS graduate majoring in law, justice and society, who was named to the honor roll; • Rachel Roberson of Hornbeak, an OCCHS graduate majoring in pre-medicine, who was named to the honor roll; and • Alex Burrow of South Ful-ton, a South Fulton High School graduate with an undecided major, who was named to the honor roll.
