A home run by Eric Evans provided a small bright spot, but the Dresden Lions allowed six runs in the first inning and fell, 13-1, to the visiting Milan Bulldogs this past Tuesday in Dresden.
Trailing 7-0 in the second inning, Lion Eric Evans stepped to the plate and blasted a solo shot on the first pitch to rid Milan’s chances of a shutout.
Dresden pitcher Stephen McDearmon held the Bulldogs scoreless in the third and recorded a strikeout.
The Lions (0-2) answered by getting two men on base via walks in their half of the third, but a groundout ended the DHS threat in the inning.
Milan continued to put up the runs in the fifth, scoring two more on a home run, another on a walk and two more on a bases-loaded single to go ahead 12-1. Another bases-loaded single put the visitors up 13-1.
In the bottom of the fifth, Milan retired three straight Lions and ended the contest early with a 13-1 win after five innings.
