Indian Day slated

The Messenger. 10.24.07
Indian Day has been scheduled for Nov. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Uniontown, Ky.
Classes to be offered will include stick weaving, beading, corn husk dolls, medicine bags, dream catchers and sage bundles.
Vendors are welcome and are asked for a donation only. Those interested may call (270) 533-1902 during the evening to register to set up.
Story telling for children will be held at 10 a.m. and for adults at 1 p.m. Participants may join organizers under the stars at 7 p.m. in nearby Morganfield at the Renaissance Center for drumming, flute playing, dancing and crafts that will be available for sale.
Red beans and rice, chili and beverages will be available during both the day and evening activities. Anyone interested in Native American activities is invited to attend.
Indian Day is being held to benefit Ancestor Days, a memorial to be held May 22-25, 2008, in Uniontown. The Ancestor Days Memorial is billed as a sacred event, with no drugs or alcohol and no firearms allowed.
Both events are sponsored by Mantle Rock Educational and Cultural Center in Marion, Ky., according to information provided to The Messenger by Karl Ivey of Fulton.
