MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin’s 41st Annual Spring College Rodeo was named the Ozark Region’s Rodeo of the Year for the fourth consecutive time by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association. Each of the NIRA’s 11 regions selects the Rodeo of the Year recipient and the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Foundation presents a grant to the host school.
During the Friday night Vincent Implement performance, UT Martin participated in a Tough Enough To Wear Pink night where competitors and rodeo fans were encouraged to wear pink in support of the fight against breast cancer. More than $500 was donated to cause.
A near capacity crowd at the Ned McWherter Agriculture Pavilion for the Martin Paving Championship Round saw UT Martin’s men finish fourth and take first in the bull riding.
The UTM rodeo team will advance to the College National Finals June 14-20 in Casper, Wyo.
