OC Nursing Home plans events for National Nursing Home Week

Obion County Nursing Home has announced the following activities for May 11-15 at the nursing home. The nursing home will be observing National Nursing Home Week.
Monday: ROCKIN 50’s (dress up ’50s style). A Wii bowling tournament will be held 8:30 a.m.-2:30 pm. At 9:30, dippin donuts and coffee will be served and a game of ’50s trivia played. Nachos, Cokes® and ’50s music will be held at 1:30 p.m. At 2:30, a best costume show will be held with awards given for first-, second- and third-place winners. The show is open to all residents and employees. A bowling tournament will be held at 2:45 with awards being given for first-, second- and third-places. The tournament will consist of resident and employee teams.
Tuesday: SPRING CARN-IVAL (dress in jeans and T-shirts). At 9:30 a.m., dried pies and coffee will be served to the residents. Jokes and riddles will be shared. Sanders Chapel Church will visit and hold services at 10:30. From 1:30 - 3:30 p.m., a carnival will begin with games, cotton candy, popcorn, peanuts, a clown, face painting and prizes for everyone.
Wednesday: DOWN MEMORY LANE (dress in your favorite era roaring ’20’s, ’60s, ’70s, etc.) From 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., a “guess who” contest will be held. Residents will guess staff members’ baby photos. Biscuits, sorghum, honey and coffee will be served as “Remember When” stories are shared at 9:30. At 12:30 p.m., the guess who awards and costume contest awards will be given with first-, second- and third-place awards to be named. Residents and employees will be participating. Second Baptist Church of Union City will host bingo at 1:30. At 2:15, a front porch social will be held. Lemonade and teacakes will be served while residents and employees “gossip.” Antiques, dolls and quilts will be on display all day in the activity room.
Thursday: BARNYARD DAY (dress like a farmer). The beauty shop will be open 8-11 a.m. At 9:30, apple bread and coffee will be served. A pie eating contest will be held at 12:45 p.m. From 1:30-3:30, a pet show will be held on the lawn. A costume contest will be held, with awards being offered for first, second and third places at 1:50. The contest is open to all residents and employees. At 2, the Dixie Chicks will perform.
Friday: A DAY AT THE BEACH (dress as if going to the beach). At 9:30 a.m., breakfast finger foods and coffee will be served. Beach ball toss and ring a shark will be offered to the residents at 10. At noon, a picnic lunch with homemade ice cream will be served. Smoothies and fruit will be shared with the residents at 2 p.m. At  2:15, a game of chicken limbo will be held.
