Two arrests made in Dresden armed robbery
The Dresden Police Department has charged two people in connection with a local convenience store robbery at knifepoint.
Initially, the department arrested 32-year-old Amy Lynn McElroy of Trenton for aggravated robbery when investigators determined she entered Q-Mart in Dresden on April 20 allegedly brandishing a knife and issued a written demand for money from the store.
McElroy’s affidavit cited there was an unnamed accomplice involved in the incident.
A press release issued by the DPD on Friday claims two people have been charged in the incident.
“With the combined efforts of the TBI (Tennessee Bureau of Investigation), the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, Gibson County Sheriff’s Department, Greenfield Police Department, Humboldt Police Department and the Trenton Police Department, the Dresden Police Department has made two arrests involving the April 24, 2009 aggravated robbery of the Dresden Q-Mart,” the press release reads.
Douglas Carlton of Kenton was taken into custody last week for his connection in the convenience store robbery.
McElroy and Carlton face a charge of criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. McElroy is also charged with the Class B felony charge of aggravated robbery.
Carlton is held without bond in the Weakley County Detention Center.
“The Dresden Police Department would like to thank all of the agencies that were involved and assisted in this investigation,” the release cites.
McElroy also faces charges in Gibson County for a recent alleged armed robbery of a Little General convenience store in Humboldt.
She is being held on a $75,000 bond in Gibson County.
