The Martin American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion and the Auxiliary are hosting a Field of Flags event beginning next week in honor of Memorial Day.
Flags will be displayed on University Street from May 18 until May 27. Interested parties can sponsor a flag for $25 with all of the proceeds going to the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse branch of Weakley County.
According to District 9 Commander Michael Wright, the event is to honor or memorialize loved ones for the upcoming holiday and to also help with needs of the non-profit the organization.
Sponsors of the event also include General Supply, Kent Gearin, Vowell and Sons and First Citizens Bank.
“This will show our support for our veterans and for the children who are assisted at the Carl Perkins Center,” Wright said.
