Martin man lands in Gibson County jail
Bradford police have arrested a Martin man in connection with a series of burglaries at a vacant home in Bradford.
On May 15 at approximately 6:30 p.m., having received a call of burglary possibly in progress, B.P.D. Cpt. Rick Davidson found 48-year-old William Brent Cooper of Martin, in the area of the residence on Highland Heights.
Cooper led Cpt. Davidson and Sgt. Adam Branch to another residence on Highland Heights where he had recently stayed.
It was at that residence where Cooper surrendered to officers numerous items taken from the home sometime during the past two months.
Although there were many items recovered, most of the stolen property, including old furniture and various household goods, is of nominal value.
Over the course of several weeks, the owners of the vacant property filed several reports indicating the home was being regularly burglarized.
Cooper was transported to the Gibson County correctional complex in Trenton and charged with vandalism and two counts of theft of property.
Cooper is due for arraignment Tuesday (May 19) in Gibson County General Sessions court in Trenton.
As of Sunday morning (May 17) he remained jailed in Trenton in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
The investigation remains ongoing and other charges may be forthcoming.
