• UTM Baseball To Host Skyhawk Skills Camp
The University of Tennessee at Martin Baseball Program and head coach Bubba Cates will offer a half-day Skyhawk Skills Camp May 26-29 at Skyhawk Field on campus.
The cost of the camp is $80 per person.
The camp will emphasize hitting, fielding and base running with individualized instruction and a low instructor-to-camper ratio.
The camp will meet Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. - noon.

• Youth Hoop Tourney Set For Lake County
The Third Annual Summer Slam at Lake County Basketball Tournament will be held June 12-14 at Tiptonville and Ridgely.
The tourney is for boys and girls teams with players in grades fourth through 12th grades.
Cost to enter a team is $150 with a three-game guarantee.
The registration deadline is May 29.

• Nashville Will Be Site For Shoney's 5K Family Fun Run
The inaugural Shoney's 5K Family Fun Run to benefit the metro Nashville Police Department will be held on June 6 in downtown Nashville - Woodland Street and Interstate Drive, Lot A of LP Field (adjacent to the Shoney’s Restaurant on Interstate Drive).
The race is a family event and all ages are welcome. To register online, visit www.shoneys.com or www.active.com.
The kids' fun run kicks off at 7:45 a.m. and “badges” will be given to all participating kids. The 5K Run starts at 8:15 a.m. and all pre-registered participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The top three male & female finishers will receive prizes.

• UTM To Host Four Spirit Camps
For the 34th consecutive year, the University of Tennessee at Martin will host four spirit camps beginning June 8 on campus in Martin.
The first camp, a Universal Cheer Association and Universal Dance Alliance event, is set for June 8-11.
The second camp, a National Cheerleading Association event, is scheduled for June 14-17.
The Universal Cheer Association will return to campus July 10-13 for a cheer and advanced cheer camp.
The final camp is scheduled for July 15-18 when the National Cheerleading Association and the National Dance Association comes back to campus.

• UTM Will Offer Equestrian Camp
The University of Tennessee at Martin Women’s Equestrian Program will offer an Equestrian Camp (English or Western) for ages 8 and up.
Participants in the equestrian camp, June 15-18, will gain the fundamentals of horse safety and horsemanship. Emphasis will be on proper technique and effective communication with the horse. Proper work ethic will be covered to provide horse and rider with the opportunity to reach their potential.
The cost of the camp is $350 and lunch will be provided. Campers will meet from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. each day.
The deadline for registration is June 1, 2009.

• Bethel Wildcats Offer Boys Basketball Camp
The Bethel College Wildcat basketball program has announced the date for its annual summer individual basketball camp for boys will be June 29 through July 1.
The camp for boys ages 7-10 will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day, while the camp for boys ages 11-17 will run from 1-4 p.m. daily.
Cost to attend is $60 per camper.
Registration will take place on June 29 from 8-9 a.m. and noon until 1 p.m.

• British Soccer Camp Coming To Martin
The Martin Soccer Association is sponsoring British Soccer Camps for all ages and experience levels June 22-26 at the Martin Recreation Complex.
Experienced British soccer coaches will be leading each session.
• The First Kicks session is for players ages 3-4 and will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. each day.
• The Mini Soccer session is for players ages 4-6 and will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. each day.
• The Half Day camp is for players ages 6-12 and will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day.
• Another Half Day session is for players ages 10-16 and runs from 1-4 p.m.
• The Full Day camp is for players 10-18 and runs from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day.

• Golf Tournament Sponsored By WLJT
The 12th Annual Northwest Tennessee Golf Tournament sponsored by WLJT will be held June 11 at Persimmon Hills Golf Course in Sharon.
Entry fee for the four-person scramble will be $70. The fee covers lunch, all beverages on the course, cart and green fees, putting contest, two mulligans, tickets for door prizes and more.

• 21st Annual Buford Pusser 5K Scheduled
The 21st Annual Buford Pusser Festival Memorial 5K Run will be held May 23 in Adamsville.
The race will start at the Buford Pusser Museum at 8:30 a.m. Registration will be held from 6:45-8:15 a.m.
The entry fee is $15, The race will have divisions for all ages both male and female plus wheelchairs and walkers are welcome.

• UT Martin Women's Basketball To Host Fundamentals, Team Camps
The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will host a fundamental camp June 22-26 for ages 6-17. The full-day camp will run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., while the half-day camp is from 9 a.m.-noon or from 1-4 p.m.
The cost for the full-day camp is $120 and includes lunch. The half-day camp is $60. All instruction will take place in the air-conditioned Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. The camp will conclude at noon, Friday with an awards ceremony.
A high school team camp for varsity and junior varsity squads is scheduled for June 18-20 at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center.
Teams will play five games a day. Each game will be two 20-minute halves with a running clock. The morning sessions will run from 8 a.m. to noon. Afternoon sessions will run from 2-6 p.m., while the night session is set for 7-10 p.m.
The cost is $150 per day.

• Skyhawk Softball Will Host Two Camps
The UT Martin softball program will host two weeks of summer camps in 2009. Registration is now under way.
The day camp session for campers between the ages of 6-13 will run from 9 a.m. until noon each day May 26-29. The day camp will cost $75 per camper and the fee includes a T-shirt and insurance coverage.
Advanced hitting and pitching camps are being offered May 26-29 from 2-4 p.m. for a cost of $80.
Campers wanting to attend both the day camp and the advanced afternoon sessions will have the opportunity to stay under the supervision of the camp staff between sessions, but must bring their own lunch. Campers opting to sign up for the full day camp package can pay $125.
The second session of softball camp will be held June 8-11. This camp is for older players from ages 14 through graduating high school seniors.
The day camp will run from 9 a.m. until noon. A full day of hitting, fielding, base running, etc. is planned throughout the week.
Half day camp will cost $75 and includes a camp T-shirt and insurance.
In addition, UTM softball is offering intense, individualized hitting and pitching instruction from 1-3 p.m. each day. The cost for the advanced sessions will be $80. If a camper chooses to attend both sessions, the cost will be $125.

• Register For Ten Star All Star Hoop Camp
Final applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only.
Boys and girls ages 10-19 are eligible to apply.
Past participants include Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Vince Carter and Grant Hill.
Camp locations include Lebanon, Tenn., Gainesville, Ga., and Champaign, Ill.

• UTM Will Host 7-on-7 Tourney, Big Man Challenge
The University of Tennessee at Martin football team will host a 7-on-7 tournament for high school and middle school teams and a Big Man Challenge for high school athletes Saturday, July 11 at Hardy M. Graham Stadium on campus.
All 7-on-7 teams will be guaranteed at least four games. The top teams from each grouping will advance to a single elimination tournament. The tournament will yield the eventual tournament champion.
All 7-on-7 teams should consist of at least seven players; however, it is strongly recommended that each team have at least 10-15 players. This will allow for injuries and substitutions.
The cost for the 7-on-7 tournament is $150 per team. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the tournament should conclude by 5:30 p.m.
In the Big Man Challenge athletes will compete throughout the day in various strong man events in an effort to earn their team enough points to compete in the tug of war tournament. The winner of the tug of war tournament wins the overall Big Man Championship.
All Big Man teams should consist of at least five and no more than eight athletes. All athletes entering the competition are required to pay $25 per person. Registration gets under way at 9 a.m. and the final tug of war is set for 5:15 p.m.

• UTM Soccer To Offer Five Summer Camps
The University of Tennessee at Martin Soccer program will offer four summer academies July 20-23 on campus in Martin.
The five camp academics include the Elite Feet Residential Academy; Elite Feet Senior Academy (ages 11-18); Elite Feet Junior Academy (ages 8-10); Elite Feet Minikicker Academy (ages 5-7); and the Elite Feet Goalkeeper Academy (goalkeepers ages 9-18).
The Elite Feet Residential Academy offers a unique and comprehensive learning experience for individual players, goalkeepers, or teams in a residential camp setting. The camp will run four days consisting of three sessions per day.
Emphasis will be placed on developing the complete soccer player and exposing them to the collegiate level. Each team will be coached by an elite collegiate coach. Teams must consist of a minimum of 12 players. A camp soccer ball is included with registration. Meals will be provided for campers. The cost is $365.
The Elite Feet Senior Academy, for ages 11-18, will focus on advanced technical and tactical application. Players will be provided with the tools necessary to improve speed, strength, psychological, and nutritional components. This camp will run for four days consisting of three sessions per day.
The cost is $150 for full days and $110 for half days.
The Elite Feet Junior Academy, for ages 8-10, will run for four days consisting of three sessions per day. Tuition will focus on technical and tactical application. Instruction will focus on total player development and enjoyment. Lunch will be provided for full day campers.
The cost for full days is $135, while half day camp is $110.
The Elite Feet Minikicker Academy for ages 5-7 will run for four days. Tuition will focus on an introduction to soccer fundamentals. The emphasis will be on creativity, team spirit, and a fun atmosphere. The cost is $75.
The Elite Feet Goalkeeper Academy, ages 9-18, will run for four days consisting of three sessions per day. For young keepers, it may be their first formal introduction to serious goalkeeping. For advanced goalkeepers, it will be a comprehensive review of goalkeeping within a competitive training atmosphere. Students will be placed in an introductory or advanced group. Goalkeepers may participate in residential academy for $350. Cost for the goalkeeper camp is $145 or $110 for half days.
