Weakley County AARP Chapter No. 392 met on Wednesday, June 17 at Cavi’s Restaurant in Gleason. Nine members attended our annual June outing.
Chapter First Vice-President, Mary Elizabeth Bell called the meeting to order and read a poem titled “Rainbows of Mercy.”
After prayer request were voiced, Marshall Hazelwood led in prayer.
Woodrow Collier, second vice-president, spoke briefly about legislation concerning the controversial Gun Law and also talked about the Health Care Bill.
Some plans were made to host the August AARP regional meeting, to be discussed more at the July meeting.
The next Weakley County AARP Chapter meeting will be held at the Martin First United Methodist Church fellowship hall at 9:30 a.m., on July 15 for fellowship and refreshments. The meeting will start at 10 a.m. Collier has invited Mark Miller of Regions Bank to be the speaker for the program. Everyone is invited to attend.
After the meeting, all enjoyed a Dutch-treat lunch at Cavi’s Restaurant.
