Hubert A. Stephens, 84, of Martin, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at Union City Manor Nursing Home.
Services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Murphy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Maxey officiating. Burial was in East Side Cemetery.
Cameron Stephens, Cody Stephens, Aubrey Stephens, Justin Sterling, Dave Frushour and Robert Gordon served as pallbearers.
Stephens was born January 3, 1925, in Sharon, son of the late Herman and Capotla Beard Stephens. He was a former truck driver for Wooten Distributors in Memphis. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joy Jacobs Stephens of Martin; one son, Tim Stephens of Bartlett; two daughters, Barbara Davidson of Chicago and Donna Roost of Merritt Island, Fla.; two brothers, James T. Stephens of Dresden and Harold Stephens of Cleveland; one sister, Vivian Baity of Goreville, Ohio; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one sister, Tommie Watts.
