Gleason native killed in Florida car wreck
A Gleason native died early Monday morning during a fatal car accident in his home state of Florida.
According to news reports, 51-year-old Lt. Daron Trent Gallimore, died early that morning when a truck he was driving veered off the road and struck a tree head-on.
Gallimore was a lieutenant for the Martin County Fire Rescue Station 22 – the same department that responded to the fatality.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Gallimore apparently over corrected when he veered off the road. The FHP also reports the roadway was wet at the time and that may have contributed to the accident, which remains under investigation.
Gallimore reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The emergency responder served 21 years in the field and was only a few months away from retirement, according to news reports.
Gallimore was a former member of the Weakley County Rescue Squad and worked for the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department before he moved to Florida.
He is survived by several grown children and a mother and sister who reside in Weakley County.
Funeral services are set for Friday in Florida before he will be returned to Weakley County for a weekend funeral service at Dresden’s Bowlin Funeral Home.
