Union City School System begins 2009-10 school year with several new employees
LUANN BARKLEY
Luann Barkley of Union City is returning to Union City Elementary School, where she had been employed as an educational assistant for 17 years, as a third-grade teacher.
She is a UCHS graduate who earned a bachelor of science degree from Lambuth University in Jackson and earned her teaching credentials at the University of Tennessee at Martin.
She is married to Britt Barkley and is the mother of adult sons Brian Barkley and Lynn Barkley. Her parents are Mr. and Mrs. G.L. Hart of Union City.
She is a member of Union City First United Methodist Church.

COURTNEY BONDURANT
Courtney Bondurant of Martin is a new second-grade teacher at UCES.
She is a graduate of Sullivan South High School in Kingsport/Johnson City and she received a bachelor of business administration degree from East Tennessee State University and a master of science degree in elementary education from UTM. She is married to Dr. Dylan Bondurant and is a member of Crosswind Church and Junior Auxiliary of Obion County.

MORGAN CRUCE
Morgan Cruce of Union City will be teaching eight-grade math at Union City Middle School and coaching football at Union City High School.
He is a graduate of OCCHS and Lambuth University, where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and religion. He is married to Stephanie Cruce and had previously been employed as an alternative school assistant at UCHS.

BRANDON DUNCAN
Brandon Duncan of Dyer will be teaching in the in-school suspension program and coaching football at UCHS.
He is a graduate of Gibson County High School in Dyer and of Lambuth University, His master’s degree was awarded from Trevecca College in Nashville.
He has previously been employed at GCHS for 12 years.

RICHARD GAMBLIN
Richard Gamblin of Dyersburg is teaching math to seventh-graders at UCMS.
He is a graduate of Paducah Tilghman High School in Kentucky and of Murray State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in engineering technology and in math with a secondary certification.
He is married to Amy Gamblin and is the father of 3-year-old Haley Gamblin.
He has previously taught in Kentucky, at OCCHS and in Dyersburg.

GEORGE LEAKE
George Leake of Troy is the new assistant principal at UCES. He is a graduate of OCCHS and UTM, where he earned both a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in administration and supervision.
He is married to Shiloh Leake and is the father of Kail, 4, and Anna Frances, who is 9 months old.
He is a member of Troy United Methodist Church and Troy Lions Club and enjoys golf, water fowl hunting, softball and basketball.
He has previously been a reading/language arts teacher at Black Oak Elementary School in Hornbeak.

NICK MARKLE
Nick Markle of Martin is teaching U.S. History, World Geography and Honors World Geography at UCHS. He is also an assistant football coach.
He is a graduate of Fayette Academy in Somerville and UTM, where he claimed a bachelor of science degree in secondary education with an emphasis on history.
He is an avid golfer and has coached football at both Fayette Academy and UCHS.

EDDIE SUITER
Eddie Suiter of Union City will be teaching English I at UCHS and coaching girls’ basketball and cross country.
He is a graduate of Westview High School in Martin and of UTM, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in English education and a master’s degree in education.
He is the father of Will, 8; Abby, 6; and Maggie, who is 4 years old.
He has previously taught at OCCHS, Spring Hill High School and Fulton City High School in Kentucky.

MELISSA TEMPLETON-HEUCK
Melissa Templeton-Heuck of Troy is an Algebra I teacher at UCHS. She graduated from Cleveland High School in Mississippi and from the University of Georgia in Athens, where she earned a degree in accounting.
She is married to Tim Heuck and is the mother of Christian Cousar and Courtney Heuck, both of Troy, and of Kristen Heuck and Andrew Heuck, both of Jonesboro, Ark.
She has previously made her home in Carrollton, Ga.
She enjoys attending her children’s sporting events and spending time with family and has been a geometry teacher at DCHS and an educational assistant in the alternative school at OCCHS and a substitute teacher.

LEE USSERY
Lee Ussery of Martin is beginning a new school year teaching sixth and seventh-grade language arts at UCMS and is serving as the school’s assistant girls’ basketball coach.
He is a graduate of Greenbrier High School and UTM, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in social work.
He is married to Stacey Ussery and is the father of Becca Ussery, who is 12 years old.
He enjoys fast pitch softball and UT football.
CLARISSA YOUNGBLOOD
Clarissa Youngblood of Union City is teaching sixth-grade reading/language arts at UCMS. She is a UCHS graduate and earned her undergraduate degree from Hampton (Va.) University and her master’s degree in elementary education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix.
She is the wife of Nelson Youngblood and the mother of Antoinette Youngblood, 12; Jasmine Youngblood, 10; and Nelson Youngblood IV, who is 8 years old. She is a member of Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ and was a military spouse for 10 years.
Mrs. Youngblood had worked as a kindergarten paraprofessional through the Department of Defense Schools in Okinawa, Japan, for two years and did her student teaching at William B. Wade Elementary School in Waldorf, Md. She has also been a substitute teacher in the Union City School System.

NELSON YOUNGBLOOD
Nelson Youngblood of Union City is teaching in the ISS program at UCHS and UCMS. He is a graduate of a Memphis high school and received his degree in health administration from the University of Phoenix. He was in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years and also serves as a minister at Greater Bethel Church of God in Christ. He enjoys basketball and fishing and is a musician.
His family includes his wife, Clarissa, and his children, Antoinette, Jasmine and Nelson.

JOAN ODOM
Joan Odom of Union City will be working as a kindergarten education assistant at UCES. She graduated from Senatobia High School in Mississippi and has previously been employed in the Union City School System as an educational assistant in Jenny Dowell’s kindergarten class and in the food service department at UCMS.
She has also worked in the medical field prior to moving to Union City.
She is the wife of Tony Odom and the mother of Elizabeth Becton and Nathan Pruitt, both of Hickman, Ky., and the stepmother of Rebecca Odom and Matt Odom, both of Samson, Ala. She also has eight grandchildren.
Mrs. Odom enjoys working with clay and making functional pieces of pottery. She also likes antique shopping and, most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.
She is a member of Union City Second Baptist Church.

WINDY WRIGHT
Windy Wright of Union City will be an educational assistant at UCES. She is a graduate of Dresden High School and is working toward a degree in special education.
She is married to Tim Wright and is the mother of Carter Gage Wright, who is 6 years old.
She has worked in the school’s Kids Club and has also been a substitute teacher.

YOUREE MADDOX
Youree Maddox of Martin will be a Read 180 educational assistant at UCHS.
She is a UCHS graduate herself and earned her degree in fashion merchandising from UTM. She enjoys shopping, cooking, sewing and spending time with family and has already had experience in the school system, working as a substitute teacher last year.
She is the mother of Maddox Tédan Harrold.
