Homecoming planned

Samburg Pentecostal Church will celebrate homecoming Sun-day. Worship will begin at 10 a.m. and there will be a noon meal, followed by singing  with Smith Family Trio. The community is invited to attend.

 

Brunch slated

The ladies ministry of Dyersburg Church of God will host “A Brunch With Brenda Green” Saturday from 9-11 at the church gym at 1014 Phillips St. 

Tickets are $5 and those wishing to attend are asked to call or text to 446-8670 or e-mail to penelladavis@yahoo.com.

Ms. Green is the women’s ministries state evangelism coordinator for the  Church of God in Tennessee.

 

Special observance set

Beech Cumberland Presby-terian Church, located at 880 Beech Chapel Road near Union City, will host a “Family, Friend and Neighbor Day” Sunday. Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m., followed by worship at 11 and a fellowship meal following at 12:30.

“We are planning a wonderful afternoon of Christian fellowship. We want to invite you to come and dine with us. We are not asking anyone not to attend their home church, but we invite you to stop by and enjoy a meal and hospitality with us. If, however, you do not attend a particular church on a regular basis, we would like to invite you to come and worship with us,” said the pastor, Dr. Bobby Williams.

To host Ladies Day

Ladies Day will be Aug. 29 at 10 a.m. at Macedonia Church of Christ on Lower Sharon Road in Dresden. Registration will beginning at 9:30.

Cindy Colley of Alabama will be the guest speaker.

To honor pastor

Dyersburg Church of God will host Pastor Appreciation Day Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m., with special guest speaker Dewayne Green. He is the Tennessee Evangelism and Home Missions director for Church of God.

The Rev. Robert Davis is pastor and members of the congregation invite the community to join them for this special service to honor him.

 

Women’s group to meet

The Ken-Tenn Women’s Con-nection will host its monthly luncheon Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Joe’s Steakhouse near Union City. “Balanced Lifestyle” will be the theme.

Anita Allen of Martin will share pointers on financial planning as the special feature. Gail Mowery of Troy and Nancy Solmon of Union City will provide musical selections to help those attending “Tune Up” their lives.

Marie Carroll of Knoxville will present “Is Change Really Necessary?” and will help those attending who are encountering changes in their lives.

All women are welcome to attend. The $9.50 price will include buffet, drink and gratuity.

Walk-ins will be welcome but reservations are encouraged and should be made by Monday by calling (731) 587-3915, 885-9029, (731) 479-2979 or 479-8020.

Homecoming event slated

The 27th annual Dixie Echoes Homecoming will be Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Yorkville City Park.

The Dixie Echoes will be joined by Primitive and Chuck Wagon Gang, with tickets selling for $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children younger than 12 will be admitted free.

Tickets are on sale at Duncan Pharmacy in  Dyer, Five Seasons Men’s Shop in Union City, Lighthouse Book Store in Dyersburg and Yorkville Market. Those interested in purchasing tickets may also call (731) 643-6365 (731) 446-9838 or (731) 334-2085.

There will be a white bean and hamburger supper, with serving beginning at 5 p.m. The white bean plate will include dessert and beverage for $5 and the hamburger plate will include dessert and beverage, also for $5.
