Effort, enthusiasm spark Lion victory
Effort, enthusiasm spark Lion victory | Dresden High School, Tyler McPeak, Zach Jolley, South Fulton, 15th Annual Ken-Tenn Jamboree,

I'll take that — Dresden's Tyler McPeak elevates to pick off a pass during the Lions' 26-0 victory over host South Fulton in the 15th Annual Ken-Tenn Jamboree Friday night.
It's been a while, but the Dresden Lions do remember how to celebrate, even if it wasn't an official regular season win.
The Lions dominated the young South Fulton Red Devils in the final session of the 15th Annual Ken-Tenn Jamboree Friday night, winning 26-0.
"Now I like that effort," a smiling DHS head coach Scott Hewett said afterward.
It was an all-out effort that fed and fueled the Dresden victory. The Black and Gold used big plays, both on the ground and through the air, to post points.
Dresden's first sequence actually started in what has been typical Lion fashion with two penalties in the first three snaps. All that was erased when Dale Hutcherson threw the ball high and Daniel Harris out-jumped an SF defender for the catch before racing 64 yards to paydirt. The two-point run was stopped to keep the score at 6-0.
The Lions struck again before the 10-plays were up. After a hard 16-yard run by Daniel Janes, Dresden's other QB — Isaac Butler — threw to the end zone where Tyler McPeak leapt between two defenders to snag the toss for a touchdown for a 12-0 Dresden advantage.
South Fulton's freshman quarterback Jaquay Garmon was chased down and sacked by Eric VanDyke, but the Devils did gain some yards on the ground before running out of plays.
Harris and Hutcherson hooked up again on a short pass that turned into a 50-yard TD thanks to downfield blocking by Zach Jolley. The PAT was wide for a 19-0 Dresden lead.
After swapping possessions on turnovers and punts, Dresden got the final score on a 35-yard Jolley ramble through the line. Tyler Morefield booted the PAT for a 26-0 lead.
After the jamboree, Hewett reminded his team there was still plenty to work on before the Lions begin their 2009 season for real on Friday night when the Greenfield Yellowjackets pay a visit to Rotary Field in Dresden. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
