A Camden man accused of beating his fiance´ was sentenced to 12 days in the county jail after a recent appearance in Weakley County General Sessions Court.
Robert P. Stephenson, 25, of Camden originally faced charges of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated domestic assault for allegedly choking his fiance´, punching her in the stomach and threatening to kill her with a handgun on July 31.
According to an affidavit, officers recovered a semi-automatic handgun at the scene. After his arrest, Stephenson was transported to a local hospital for examination. He had to be restrained by officers and hospital associates, according to the affidavit.
Stephenson was sentenced to 12 days in jail plus time served for a charge of misdemeanor assault by Weakley County General Sessions Judge Tommy Moore on Aug. 5. Moore also ordered Stephenson to remain on supervised probation for one year.
The aggravated kidnapping charge was dismissed.
