Plans under way for area Veterans Parade
Although Veterans Day is not celebrated until early November, plans are already in progress for the 2nd Annual Veterans Parade in Weakley County.
In its inaugural year, Rolling Thunder® TN Chapter 6 hosted the first Veterans Parade in downtown Martin.
Area veterans were honored during the event as local Boy, Girl and Cub Scout troops waved flags. The Chapter also handed out commemorative flags to spectators along Lindell Street in downtown Martin.
This year, the group plans to extend the parade route from Graham Stadium Parking Lot on the UT Martin campus to Lindell Street downtown.
The non-profit organization is requesting all area veterans to mark their calendars for 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7.
Transportation during the parade will be provided for veterans. Any churches, organizations, businesses and community members who wish to be a part of the parade are invited.
There are no entry fees to join the parade route.
Call Rolling Thunder® TN Chapter 6 Activities Director Patricia Laird at 587-9742 or 364-5766 for parade entry information or with any questions.
Rolling Thunder® is a non-profit organization whose focus is veteran/POW affairs.
