Gaining ground — The Dresden Lions got a big night from senior running back Zach Jolley, who rushed for 84 yards on 13 carries in last week's 34-12 win over Greenfield. The Lions will travel to Trenton to take on Peabody at 7:30 on Friday night.

While the monkey has been lifted off the backs of the Dresden Lions with the end of their losing streak, it is now up to them to make sure the primate doesn't return to take up residence. Dresden will ride the emotion of last week's victory and try to win consecutive games in a season for the first time since the final pair of contests ending the 2006 campaign. After winning over Greenfield to end a 19-game losing skid, the Lions will have to upend the host Peabody Golden Tide to improve to 2-0 in 2009. Kickoff is set for 7:30 in Trenton. Peabody, which did not play in Week 0, is also coming off a disappointing season in which the Tide finished at 2-8. The Lions should have a size advantage up front against Peabody and will try to again move the ball on the ground after rushing for 231 yards in last week's 34-12 win. Though it came out victorious, Dresden must eliminate mistakes including penalties and turnovers. The Lions were flagged 13 times last week and committed two turnovers. |
