The Sons of Confederate Veterans local camp 176 will meet Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Obion County Museum community room on Edwards Street in Union City. Brigade Commander Bill Foster will present a program on the history of Union City’s “Unknown Confederate Dead” monument. The mystery surrounding the burial of Charles Sheppard, a black man and the only known person buried there, will be revealed.
The SCV works in conjunction with other historical groups to preserve Confederate history. It is not affiliated with any other group. The SCV rejects any group whose actions tarnish or distort the image of the Confederate soldier or his reasons for fighting.
