Ohio couple falls in love with Tennessee property

Ohio couple falls in love with Tennessee property | Dr. Sadhish K. Siva, Waterfall, Tennessee, e-Bay
An e-Bay find has turned out to be a treasure for one Cleveland, Ohio, couple who were looking for a warmer locale.
Dr. Sadhish K. Siva and his wife, Anna, were expecting their first child and had anticipated moving from their small home in Cleveland when the area experienced another bad winter. After shoveling many feet of snow, Siva said they thought is was time for a change and immediately started looking for property below the snow belt.
“I started perusing the Internet searching for a waterfront property,” he said, adding he had grown up in a house on the lake in Louisiana.
“I just happened across a listing on, of all places, e-Bay that had the headline, ‘Own Your Own Waterfall Property.’ Up until this point I didn’t know that you could actually own property with a natural waterfall. I assumed these were all publicly-owned state parks.”
The property is located in Tennessee.
Siva said he immediately told his wife about this listing, which included multiple photos of the house and waterfalls. “She could sense my excitement and said, ‘Well how about we take a look in person.’”
The Sivas booked a flight for that weekend, saw the property in person and fell in love with it on the spot.
“It is very rare to find something that exceeds your expectations, but this property did just that. The pictures did not do the home or waterfalls justice. We signed the contract the very next day,” he said.
It was a good thing, too. The property had only been on e-Bay one week with about 2,000 hits when Siva saw it. By the time the e-Bay listing ended, it had 30,000 hits. Subsequently, the previous owners received six different offers, all of which exceeded Siva’s purchasing price.
“My family and I feel very fortunate to own this property as it has brought us much joy. Just the look of sheer amazement from visitors and guests alike as they first see the waterfall makes us truly appreciate what we have,” he said.
The home is set on a beautiful 7.6-acre wooded lot with the main feature being not one, but two, beautiful waterfalls.
The first waterfall is a scenic 13-foot waterfall that is fed by the natural spring named Bullen Run. The second waterfall is a registered scenic waterfall named Baker Falls, located in Coffee County in Manchester. This waterfall is about 55 feet high and has a natural grotto behind it, which can be accessed by walking behind and viewing the waterfall from a spectacular vantage point. The house is actually located on a cliff beside the major waterfall. There are wooden steps leading to the base of the waterfall and viewers can gain access into the natural grotto from there.
The house takes full advantage of the natural landscape and basically every room in the house has a view of the waterfall, which can best seen from the master bedroom, an all-glass sunroom, kitchen and deck. This is a year round waterfall but has the greatest amount of water flow during spring months.
“Since owning the property, we have met many people who drop by and ask to view the falls, some local, but some from out of state,” Siva said.
The property is listed on a waterfall guidebook, “Waterfalls of Tennessee” by Greg Plumb.
The Sivas submitted the property for consideration for an HGTV show, “What You Get for the Money” and almost immediately the producers got in contact with them saying they were very interested.
HGTV sent out a film crew to interview the family and got footage of the property.
“The film crew said they never saw anything like this and were very impressed,” Siva added.
The episode is scheduled to air Sunday at 10:30 p.m.
