The art of putting music into action will delight the crowds attending the annual Massac County High School Patriots Band’s Super City Sounds field show band competition Saturday at the high school football stadium at Metropolis, Ill.
Among the high school bands attending will be Obion County Central High School and those from Anna-Jonesboro, Ill., Paducah, Ky., Lone Oak, Ky., Mayfield, Ky., and Benton, Mo.
Gates will open at 5:30 p.m., with the festivities starting at 6.
“We are extremely excited to have seven bands coming to this year’s event,” said Christopher Hayden, MCHS band director. “Like our band, these bands compete in field shows throughout the region and work countless hours to perform an award-winning show at each stop.”
The host Marching Patriots will be performing their field show for the crowd and, although they will be judged, their scores will not be tabulated with the other bands.
Concessions will be available.
Tickets for Saturday’s competition are $5 for adults and $3 for students, with children ages 3 and under admitted free.
For more information, call the school at (618) 524-3440.
