Vocal class scheduled at UT Martin

The Messenger 10.21.09 Denise Knowlton will offer a master class for four voice majors at University of Tennessee at Martin at 3 p.m. Friday in Watkins Auditorium in Boling University Center. Ms. Knowlton began teaching as a graduate student at Bowling Green State University, where she graduated with a master of music degree in 1998. After receiving her degree, she went to the Cleveland Institute of Music where she spent three years focused on singing. During this time, she performed in more than 10 master classes with singers such as Elly Ameling, Bo Skovhus and Dawn Upshaw. Knowlton continues to teach at University of Missouri-Kansas City’s Community Music and Dance Academy, also maintaining a private studio and singing with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City. Ms. Knowlton is instructing Karen Cook, Martin soprano senior voice education major; Linzie Tedford, Memphis soprano senior voice education major; Joshua Gatlin, Troy tenor junior voice education major; and Aaron Hand, Fairview baritone freshman voice performance major.
