MARTIN, Tenn. -- Brandyn Young, (5-8, 205) a senior running back at The University of Tennessee at Martin was named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Offensive Player of the Week for his effort Saturday against Tennessee State University at LP Field in Nashville. Young carried the ball 32 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns in UT Martin’s 28-7 road victory at Tennessee State. Young scored on a four-yard run in the first quarter to put the Skyhawks up 7-0 and added a one-yard run with five minutes to play to put his squad up 21-0. The touchdowns were his sixth and seventh of the season. Young ranks second on the team in scoring (44 points). It was Young’s first 100-yard rushing game of the season. Young now has 1,510 rushing yards in his career and is just 101 yards away from becoming the 10th all-time leading rusher in Skyhawk history. The weekly Ohio Valley Conference honors are voted on by the league’s football contacts and sports information directors. |
