The Messenger 11.20.09
South Fulton High School’s Drama Club will present “The Knights of the Rad Table” by Pat Lydersen at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 in the school gymnasium.
Admission is $3 per person, with children ages 5 and younger admitted free.
The play is being presented by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service Inc. of Englewood, Colo.
In the play, on a typical day in the park, a teenage girl named Gwen is reading one of her favorite books as her friend Artie approaches, doing tricks on a skateboard. After time passes, the known wizard Merlin awakes from a 1,500-year sleep and takes them both back in time to the time of chivalry and honor.
During the exquisite days of the legendary King Arthur, Artie becomes the crowned king of England and meets his royal knights as Gwen stays aside, meeting Lancelot. When wicked witch Morgan La Fey finds there is a new king, she kidnaps him and leaves his gawky but faithful knights to go on a mission to save him, as well as overcome many obstacles.
The student cast of characters includes Jessica Blodgett as Gwen; Alex Robertson as Artie; Ashlee Tynes as Merlin; Britnee Sturgeon as Morgan Le Fey; Sam Curtis as Lancelot; Kiefer McGowan as Gawain; J.B. Graves as Gareth; Jordan Cherry as Tristan; Morgan Hilton as Bedivere; Ashley Smith as Kay; Bethany Graves, Sara Collier and Morgan Hilton as knights; Brooke Kemp, Kelsey Boyd and Bethany Graves as pages; Megan White and Hannah Morris as ladies-in-waiting; Mallory Martin as Messenger; Kayla Davidson as Town Crier; Katie Bivens as Sir Lamorack; Paige Cook as Orth; Henry Liu as Sir Pettipot; Katie Bivens, Morgan Maxwell, Hannah Morris and Megan White as damsels; Dustin Neeley as Horsa; Hannah Morris as Dwarf; Paige Cook as Dragon; Dustin Neeley as Black Knight; Kierra Haley as Loathly Lady; and various students as trolls, skeletons, ghosts, cowboys, townspeople, cavemen and a crowd.
The play is under the direction of drama teacher Jean Clark.
