The Messenger, December 11, 2009 The Union City Elementary School PTO Christmas Carnival, rescheduled to avoid conflict with families attending last week’s state football championship in Cookeville, will kick off with fun for the whole family Saturday morning at the school on South Miles Avenue. Chorus Kids and Voices of UCES will present a program in the school gym from 10-10:30 a.m., and there will follow games and crafts in the kindergarten-second grade wing. Tickets will sell for a quarter each. Children may also visit with Santa and families can make photos with the children’s favorite guest in the school library. Lunch offerings will include hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, chips, popcorn and beverages for sale in the cafeteria. A silent auction in the library will include theme baskets, fresh baked goods and two Tennessee Titan football tickets for the Sunday game against the St. Louis Rams. There will be door prizes for children, adults and teachers and an opportunity to vote for the favorite Christmas tree in the hall near the library. A raffle will feature an XBox 360 and an Apple i-Pod. Chances have been on sale at the school and will be offered at the carnival for $1 each. The community is invited to enjoy this special celebration, a spokesman said.
