Drug charges levied
The Messenger. 11.13.07 A Union City man was charged with two drug-related offenses Friday morning at his home. Mark G. Staples, 32, of 624 North Division St. was issued a citation charging him with possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, according to a Union City Police Department report. Police had gone to Staples’ residence about 9:40 a.m. to perform a check of the home after receiving complaints about alleged drug activity. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with Staples, who allegedly admitted to possessing a marijuana bong and took the officer to a bedroom where the smoking device was located. He also gave police a plastic bag with about 25 grams of marijuana and two postage scales, police reported. Further search of the residence resulted in police finding a brown wood container with marijuana residue inside and stamp bags that police officers said are commonly used in the packaging of marijuana, according to the report.
