Two die in house fire

Posted: Monday, January 25, 2010 9:56 pm

Two people died in a fire over the weekend in Martin.
According to Martin Fire Chief Russell Schwahn, the adult who died in a mobile home fire Friday was 41-year-old Clyde Edgeston of Martin. Darius Edwards, 23 months, also died. There was no information on the relationship between the victims.
The Martin Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 540 Highway 431 at 9:27 p.m. Friday.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a mobile home fully engulfed with fire and a bystander stated there were people still inside.
After the fire was extinguished, the two victims were found inside the structure.
Firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Sharon Fire Department, Weakley County EMA, Martin Police Department and Weakley County Municipal Electric System.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation at press time by the Martin Fire Department, who was being assisted by the State Bomb and Arson Squad and the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department.
